One phrase sums it all -- Lady luck taunted us.
All favours seem to be inclining towards us. Our raving supporters. Our PE teachers, graduated seniors, fellow schoomates, guys team, and the hockey girls of VJ, PJ, RJ. Our past records of TOP 4 results for 3 consecutive years showed us higher odds of advancing than AC. Our short corner goal by Marissa in the first half seemed to be the answer to our hopes and desires. That we'll be the ones walking out of the pitch shedding tears of joy and relief for the hardwork paid off.
Yet all was not to be.
Lady luck tauted us, taunted us all, taunted every single one of us. The team, the supporters, Mr. Ali.
We filled the field with passion, we tackled the balls with aggression, we fought, we perservered, we din't lose, they won. AC's flick in the last 10 minutes from leftD sinked silently into our net. Passed our forwards, passed our midfields, passed our defence, passed our last man, passed our goalie, passed our cheers. A draw was what AC needed to advance, but we had to win, we must win, because we all know very well the consequence of losing. Euphoria ruptured CCAB with AC's screams and yells of joy. We too countered with our encouragements. Fight on, fight on, we never gave up. Time and time again we tried and tried to force a crack in their now 11 man defence, and time and time again we couldn't. The worst sound rang through everyone's ears and signalled the end of the 1 hour game. I swore. I watched as everyone walked out of the pitch in silence, slience so piercing yet punctuated with AC's celebrative chants. I don't know who started crying, but everyone was soon drowned in their own sea of tears. I was at a lost of what to do.
Lost.
We were all lost for that moment.
It was so heart wrenching to see your teammates cry. Crying over what's done and cannot be undone. Crying foul over the capriciousness of Lady luck. Crying for your soul, that all these months and weeks and hours of hard work down the drain. Crying. It was tears tears and more flooding of tears. Hugs and words of comfort smoothered some of us, but the pain of not advancing to the next round is there, so raw, so fresh, etched deep into wounds made by AC. When time comes, and wound healed, we'll be stronger, better and ready for another battle. Nothing brings us down. Absolute nothing except for yourself.
We'll get it back.
Back into our pockets.
Because we want it so bad. So so bad.
Next year, we'll make sure we get it back.
This i promise and cross my heart upon.
